Lighting design is the art of deliberately choosing light to create a practical or aesthetic effect. Picking a light fixture is only part of the process. Where to place the lighting fixture, how it operates and the effect it has on the area is the more important part of lighting design. This process, when done correctly and meticulously, contributes to the people’s well-being by enhancing the mood and desirability to the given space.
There are basic elements to be considered in the process: providing a safe, comfortable and a pleasant visual environment, and energy efficient as possible. A well-designed lighting solution creates an atmosphere, gives a character to the space, contours the space, and enhances the well-being of the people in that space.
At Lightex our philosophy is a lighting design philosophy. As explained above, supplying light fixtures is the last step of the process. We commence the lighting design process by analyzing the project, identifying and evaluating the type of space we will be working with. Then the design team evaluates the type of lighting required whether architectural, façade, decorative or outdoor. Using plans provided by the client, the team designs the amount of lighting needed and the areas to be lit ensuring that the illuminance matches the standard requirements.
For example, a surgery room, an office and a grocery store require different illuminance for productivity reasons, attraction reasons, or other significant reasons. Finally, the final proposal is then presented to the client. Once approval is obtained, order and supply of materials follow.
